Słowo wstępne: The Specials było  jednym z najbardziej wpływowych zespołów w Wielkiej Brytanii. Ich utwory utrzymywałyu się w pierwszej piątce list przebojów przez lata, aż do profetycznego Ghost Town, zajmującego pozycję pierwszą. Potem  zespół się rozadł, częśc tworzyła nadal stylowe ska a la The Specials, a druga bardziej new-waveowe w brzmieniu FBT.

Fun Boysi śpiewali o swoich, czyli o murzynach, choć często i o innych emigrantach w UK. Śpiewali w latach 80-ych, czyli za Margaret Thatcher (zasłynęła między innymi ze sporej redukcji zatrudnienia, które dotknęło głównie osoby niewykształcone).
Oczywiście społeczeństwo za jeden z powodów gorszego stanu rzeczy uważało zabierającą pracę kolorową część wyspy (Polaków jeszcze tam nie było).
Zespół miał więc powody by się denerwować, a jednak nie tracił poczucia humoru.
